TeliaSonera holds out for improved offer

Nordic telecom firm TeliaSonera says it won’t talk to France Telecom about a possible takeover until the French company raises its bid, the Financial Times is reporting today.

But France Telecom—which set a two-week deadline to start talks when it announced its proposal June 5—says FT’s friendly bid was already maxed out. Industry experts—and investors—have derided FT’s bid for TeliaSonera, saying there was only limited cost savings to be realized.
