Tellabs appoints Dan Kelly as new CEO, president

Tellabs' (Nasdaq: TLAB) board of directors on Thursday named Dan Kelly as its new CEO and president.

Kelly, a 25-year Tellabs veteran, has served as Tellabs acting CEO and president since June 27, 2012.

He was serving in that interim role for Rob Pullen, a 27-year veteran of Tellabs, who was being treated for cancer. Pullen passed away on July 2 this year.

The company's board of directors said they unanimously backed Kelly's appointment.

"Tellabs stands ready to help our customers succeed as they advance networks with Tellabs Mobile Backhaul, Packet Optical, Optical LAN and Access Solutions," Kelly said in a release announcing his appointment.

Before taking on the CEO and president roles, Kelly served as the vendor's executive vice president of global products, overseeing Tellabs' products, including research and development, product line management and product marketing.
