Telstra expands Whispir platform to the U.S., deepens cloud presence
Telstra Global has taken another step forward in its U.S. service expansion with plans to add its cloud-based communications platform, Whispir Conversation, to its business offering this month.
The service will be available in global locations via a range of packages and pricing.
Business customers can use Whispir Conversation to communicate with one another internally and externally via SMS, voice, web, email, mobile data and social media networks.
Nathan Bell, Telstra Global Enterprise and Services, director of marketing, portfolio and pricing, said Telstra wants to replicate the success it has seen with the Whispir Conversation Platform with Australia-based enterprise and government customers.
"In less than two years, Whispir's customer base has quadrupled to more than 1.6 million users and with today's expansion, we see significant growth opportunities for this service in the US, particularly when delivered over Telstra's global network extending to more than 2,000 Points of Presence," Bell said in a release.
Telstra is so confident about Whisper that at the end of 2012 it invested $3.74 million in the platform.
Extending the Whispir platform outside of Australia and into the U.S., Europe and Asia Pacific is just one of many moves Telstra Global has made with its cloud platform.
Earlier this month, the service provider introduced a cloud-based unified communications (UC) service that it said can enable business customers to communicate and collaborate regardless of their location.
