Telstra Global , the global arm of Australia's Telstra (ASX: TLS.AX), on Wednesday announced that it is expanding its network coverage with nine new points of presence (PoPs) in Europe, Asia Pacific and the United States.

These new PoPs include key cities in each region, including London, Marseilles, Stockholm, Osaka, Tokyo, Sydney, Hong Kong and Chicago.

Given the global growth of their carrier and large enterprise customers, a key point of the offering is the ability to ensure SLAs for various network connectivity options such as Ethernet and cloud are met end-to-end regardless of location.

Having a PoP based in Chicago means that Telstra Global will enable its enterprise and wholesale customers to obtain low latency connectivity into Asia Pacific and address that market's need for low latency financial trading.

"The expansion highlights Telstra Global's focus on enabling customer growth in Europe, the U.S. and Asia," said Nathan Bell, Telstra Global's Director of Products and Marketing, in a release about the new expansion. "We continue to invest in our global infrastructure and technological innovation for an enhanced customer experience, and we now have one of the largest established networks in Asia Pacific."

By expanding its PoPs into new areas, Telstra is responding to the notion that they need to be present where their customers are. Customers in these nine countries can get instant access to key Asia Pacific markets such as Hong Kong, Singapore, and Sydney.
