Tracking 3G/4G wireless network latency

The speed of U.S. wireless networks is closely monitored and tracked but relatively little attention is paid to latency, which is notable as improved latency was one of the major reasons U.S. wireless operators were anxious to upgrade to LTE. Latency is defined as the time it takes for a source to send a packet of data to a receiver. Latency is typically measured in milliseconds. The lower the latency (the fewer the milliseconds), the better the network performance.  Sister publication FierceWireless teamed with OpenSignal to shed some light on the latency issue. See how the various U.S. operators stack up against each other in latency during the first quarter. Special Report
