TWC plans metered billing expansion

Time Warner Cable is continuing to take the lead on establishing metered billing and tiered pricing for Internet service. The cable TV company was among the first to test the concept in a long trial that took place in Beaumont, Tex., and it now plans to introduce the offering commercially in several markets in the coming weeks.

A BusinessWeek report says TWC will offer four bandwidth tiers ranging from 5 GB to 40GB for $29.95 to $54.90 per month. Will there be a consumer outcry about the strategy, as many have expected, or will it quickly become a model for every other broadband Internet service provider in the U.S? Or both?

when companies like hulu.com youtube.com google video netflix and blockbuster realize that the bandwidth/use caps are the reason why they are losing customers lawsuits towards time warner cable will become more real.
what time warner isnt telling investors is that the metered billing testings are being done in towns or areas where there is NO competition thus making their results seem like "well people are willing do pay" but once there is an alternative which should not take very long their number of customers and stock value will plummet so fast it will enrage investors.
