US Signal employs Cisco ASR for its Ethernet and data center services drive

US Signal is putting Cisco's (Nasdaq: CSCO) ASR 9000 to work in its IP network as the enabler for its Carrier Ethernet services and its newly introduced Managed Data Center, or Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) offering.

By deploying the Cisco ASR platform, a a response to greater customer demand for high bandwidth services, US Signal will be able to offer virtual Ethernet services up to 100 Gbps and fulfill the needs of its growing data center customer base.

Built with dedicated resource pools to provision and host virtual private servers that customers can access, US Signal's IP NGN enables US Signal to offer customers in the Midwest Virtual Private Cloud environments.

Over the past two years, US Signal has built out a 12,000 mile route fiber network that reaches 23 markets that leverages Cisco's DWDM platforms.

On top of that network, the service provider has been aggressively expanding the availability of its Ethernet services organically and as a member of the CENX Ethernet exchange. In June, US Signal made its debut into the cloud with the debut of its Managed Data Center Infrastructure as a service cloud offering.
