US Signal introduces cloud-based advanced security service

US Signal hopes to allay business customers' fears about cloud security with the debut of its new Cloud Based Advanced Security offering.

Served up as part of its Managed Services portfolio, the service provider's new service builds on its initial Managed Data Center private Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offering.

By providing a virtual firewall, the new Cloud Based Advanced Security product provides cloud users with another level of security. This virtual firewall is placed in a carrier-grade cloud center with a number of features, including firewall, content filtering, spyware, malware, virus protection, Web proxy, intrusion detection and prevention.

Accessible to customers via any of its connectivity options (Dedicated Internet, MPLS and Ethernet WAN), the Managed Data Center is built with dedicated resource pools designed to rapidly provision and host virtual private servers.

Because any customer can access the locations are able to access a private network, using any public Internet connection, US Signal claims that they can save customers money by moving to the cloud by reducing last mile network costs. At the same time, a virtual private cloud environment enables customers augment or replace legacy computer network infrastructure without having to make more investments in new equipment.
