US Signal targets health care vertical with private cloud service
US Signal, a competitive provider, is offering its customers a new private cloud option with its Hosted Private Cloud (HPC) product that is tailored to meet the needs of specific market segments.
For the health care vertical, HPC creates what the service provider calls a customer specific virtual environment with dedicated compute resources and storage options that reside in its Midwest data centers.
The private storage option provides businesses with a geographically diverse, off-site location to backup and store crucial business data. A cloud-based storage system will benefit hospitals or any organization that handles electronic patient health information (ePHI) that needs to meet federal guidelines for HIPAA compliance.
After introducing its initial cloud service set in 2011, the service provider has been continually updating it with new features including security and backup capabilities.
While competition in the data center and cloud hosting space is fierce, one element that differentiates US Signal's HPC service is that it runs inside data centers that are connected by its own fiber network. It has built out 14,000 miles of lit fiber and metro rings in 23 strategic Tier 1, 2 and 3 markets.
