Verizon Business pushes 10G Ethernet
The Ethernet service market has been teeming with activity of late, and now, Verizon Business is claiming to be the first major carrier to standardize on Ethernet service speeds up to 10 Gbps for Ethernet local area network (E-LAN) and Ethernet virtual private line (EVPL) applications, including data center connectivity.
The move is part of an international Ethernet expansion for Verizon Business, although some may argue with what constitutes a "major carrier." AboveNet offers EVPL-like point-to-point services at 10 Gbps, according to Light Reading.

I believe Verizon is claiming to be the first to offer 10 Gig interfaces on switched E-LAN and E-VPL services. Lots of carriers offer 10 gig on point-to-point Ethernet Private Line, but to do it on a switched service is new. If anyone knows of a carrier offering 10 Gbps Ethernet interfaces on a switched multipoint service, please let us know!
