Verizon Business rolls out professional services

Tools

Verizon Business already had been making a pretty good case for itself as a telco with a load of enterprise services expertise, but this week, the company announced a new offering for enterprises that will better package that expertise in the form of professional services for specific industry segments. The professional services break down into five key practice areas, including security services, IT services, IP communications, contact center solutions and network integration and engineering services. They further include more than 50 segment specialty areas. Verizon Business now has more than 2,700 professional services consultants employed around the world in 30 or so countries.

The telco has built some of its enterprise expertise through acquisition--starting with the MCI acquisition, of course--but also the acquisition of security player Cybertrust. The practice area break-out shows how well-tooled Verizon Business now is in each segment, but could we see more acquisitions or partnerships in each of those areas? Stay tuned.
