Verizon Business taps into Africa's business market

Verizon Business wants to help multinational corporations (MNCs) that want to either establish or already have a presence in Africa get whatever IP network capabilities they need.

Like many of Verizon Business' international IP network expansion efforts, the service provider is turning to partner Gateway Business Africa to extend coverage of its MPLS network in an additional 14 pan-African countries by using interconnection points between each of their respective networks.

MNCs looking for network capabilities in Africa will be able to access Verizon Business Private IP network capabilities in Tanzania and Kenya in Africa's eastern region; Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast and Cameroon on the western coast; and Namibia, Botswana, Mozambique and South Africa in the central and southern regions. In addition, Verizon Business plans to add Uganda, Lesotho, Angola and Zambia through its agreement with Gateway Business Africa.

The latest expansion into Africa is just one of many international expansions Verizon Business continues to conduct to serve its MNC customer base. Earlier this month, the service provider launched plans to expand its global data center reach in both the U.S. and in five European countries (Belgium, Dublin, Frankfurt, London and Paris) and Asia Pacific (Hong Kong and Canberra, Australia).
