Verizon, Comcast get service partnership going in Portland and Seattle

Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and Comcast (Nasdaq: CMCSA) have begun to sow the seeds of their new co-selling bundled service partnership, naming Portland and Seattle as its initial markets.

At this point, the initial drive will be around co-marketing Verizon's wireless LTE Verizon LTE and Comcast's video, voice and cable modem services.

Customers who sign up for the new Verizon Wireless/Xfinity bundles will get a pre-paid Visa card of $100 to $300.

Set to be launched in additional markets, including Comcast's hometown Philadelphia, later this year and in early 2013, Xfinity products will be sold through Verizon Wireless' stores, while Comcast will cross-promote Verizon's wireless services via its call centers and online sites.

Tony Heyman, president of integrated media services at Verizon Wireless, told The Philadelphia Inquirer that one of the key goals of the partnership is to create new products that would allow a consumer to stream video content between the wireless phone and wireline cable platforms.

Although the two service providers will sell each other's products, customer care for current Verizon Wireless and Comcast Xfinity customers will continued to be handled by each company separately.
