Verizon shutters its home monitoring, control service

Verizon (NYSE: VZ) is no longer going to let customers sign up for its much talked about Home Monitoring and Control product, reports FierceCable. The telco will only allow FiOS customers who already subscribe to the $9.99 a month service to continue using it. John Columbus, a Verizon spokesman, said it stopped accepting new orders in October. Although the telco said it could launch another home automation product, it wouldn't say if it would be a wireless-based approach like AT&T's (NYSE: T) Digital Life service. Read more
