Formant will oversee the segment's delivery of services and solutions to enterprise customers in its three main segments: healthcare and insurance; financial services; technology; manufacturing, distribution, automotive and distribution; retail; energy and utilities; and the public sector.

He brings plenty of enterprise and solutions experience to his new role. Prior to coming to Verizon, Formant served as senior vice president and president of Avaya Government Solutions and Avaya Professional Services. During his tenure at Avaya, he also served as president of the vendor's Global Services division, where he oversaw a business turnaround while improving customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Earlier, he held executive positions at PricewaterhouseCoopers and MBNA and has served as adviser/investor to early-stage technology companies.

Formant's appointment comes at what has been an ongoing transition for its executive ranks at Verizon Enterprise Solutions. In 2011, the telco realigned its business, government and wholesale operations under one common organization.
