Verizon targets Charter with VoIP lawsuit

Verizon Communications has filed a lawsuit against cable TV company Charter Communications alleging infringement of eight VoIP-related patents. Charter is the second cable player Verizon has sued over VoIP patents, Cox Communications having been the first. So, who's next on the list?

After having successfully sued Vonage for patent infringement, it seems like Verizon is testing how far it can get sending its legal eagles on attack against the competition. The patents in question are starting to look like the secret weapon Verizon had in its back pocket the whole time VoIP providers were building their market presence.
