Verizon Wireless' McAdam in line for Verizon COO spot

Tools

It looks like Verizon Communications may have found their number two guy in Verizon Wireless' current chief Lowell McAdam. A report in The Street suggests that Verizon will name McAdam COO to take the place of Denny Strigl, who will retire at the end of this year. Although nothing has been confirmed by Verizon yet, if McAdam does take the COO spot, he will take the same journey that led Strigl to become the next executive in line to potentially take over the company if and when Ivan Seidenberg decides to retire. But it appears that Seidenberg has no intention of leaving Verizon's top spot in the near future.

The potential appointment of McAdam is recognition of the telco's increasing interest in next-gen wireless networks. Already, Verizon Wireless has taken the lead over RBOC brother AT&T to build out an advance LTE 4G wireless networks with a number of cities set to go live with service this year. In contrast to Strigl, McAdam seems to be more open to letting new application and handset vendors run their respective products on the Verizon Wireless Network.

Verizon's network is great, I have a prepaid Straight Talk phone with unlimited talk, text and 30mb of data for $45/month that runs on Verizon's network nationwide and I an so happy with it.
