TODAY'S SPOTLIGHT... 1878 phone book--the first--surfaces for auction at Christie's
When we were kids, we used something called a “phone book” to get the numbers of friends, acquaintances and businesses we wanted to call on the phone, remember?

The world’s first telephone book—one produced just two years after the man we all, in some form or another owe our jobs to, Alexander Graham Bell—is about to go up for auction in New York June 17. The book, issued in November 1878, has the 391 subscribers to New Haven’s phone service and also includes directions on how to use the new fangled device, including the instructions: "Should you wish to speak to another subscriber you should commence the conversation by saying, 'Hulloa!'"  Check out the story at the Discover Channel.
