Windstream becomes Klausner's latest visual voice mail patent target
Windstream (Nasdaq: WIN) is the latest service provider to face a patent lawsuit by Klausner Technologies' U.S. Visual Voicemail patents.
Klausner's suit targets the products that Windstream sells to its business customers via its business division, including the ILEC's Hosted VoIP and Data CommPortal and Voicemail to Email integration products. The patent holder claims that Windstream's voice service products, which enable users to selectively retrieve enterprise voicemail, violate their Visual Voicemail Patents.
Currently, Klausner has 33 Visual Visual Voicemail patent licensees under its U.S., European, and Asian patents, including major U.S. and European mobile operators, international cell phone manufacturers, cable and VOIP providers in addition to Visual Voicemail products and services vendors such as Avaya and NEC that sell PBX and other related voice service equipment into the enterprise market.
Windstream is among several service providers that have faced a Visual Voicemail suit from Klausner. Over the past few years, Klausner has filed suits over patent infringement against a number of service providers including AT&T (NYSE: T), Verizon (NYSE: VZ) and XO Communications (OTC BB: XOHO).
