Windstream partners with TiVo

While large telcos pursue ambitious TV strategies that have them going toe-to-toe with cable TV giants, such strategies haven't been an obvious choice for some smaller independent telcos. Indies like SureWest, Pioneer Telephone Cooperative, Cavalier Telephone and others have been aggressive, but some, like Windstream, have bided their time.

Now, Windstream has a partnership with DVR pioneer TiVo that packages a TiVo set-top box and service access with a Windstream broadband connection. The TiVo charges also will appear on customers' existing Windstream bills. It's not IPTV, but it gives Windstream a horse in the TV services race.
