Windstream, Racemi offer enterprises a path to the cloud
Windstream's data center and cloud services subsidiary Hosted Solutions has developed a pact with Software as a Service (SaaS) provider Racemi with the aim of helping business customers migrate their existing physical and virtual services to its cloud network.
The telco said that by using Racemi's Cloud Path SaaS platform, an enterprise can run its business without interruption while putting its applications into the cloud.
During this process, a business' data transfer occurs in the background while the production server remains running. In addition, Windstream has integrated Cloud Path's self-service portal into its own cloud portal.
A key element of this new partnership is driving efficiency in the cloud transition process. Traditionally, a customer looking to migrate data to a cloud had to use an external storage device such as a hard drive or rebuild servers from scratch.
"Cloud migration can be daunting for many businesses, not only because of the complexity of the solutions, but also due to the perception that critical time and data may be lost during migrations," said Matt Preschern, senior vice president and enterprise chief marketing officer at Windstream.
While this feature is still new, its availability could strike a chord with businesses that don't want the headaches associated with traditional cloud migration methods.
This capability is just one of what appears to be a series of enhancements the company is making to its cloud services portfolio. Just last week, Windstream introduced a new automation tool it says will reduce the time it takes to provision cloud services.
