XO adds concierge feature to hosted PBX service

XO Communications is helping its business customers focus more on their fundamental strengths by launching "HPBX Concierge," a "touch-free" feature for its Hosted PBX service.

With Concierge, customers can have an XO account administrator change, add or delete phone numbers and modify certain features for their HPBX simply by making a phone call to XO.

The end result of this feature is that XO HPBX customers, expecially those with small IT staffs, no longer have to manage their phone services.

"Working closely with our customers we realized that businesses do not always have the time or manpower to make the most common, basic configuration changes themselves," said Jake Heinz, senior vice president of marketing and product at XO Communications, in a release.

In tandem with Concierge, XO has also expanded the suite of unified communications features for its HPBX service, with optional enhancements including instant messaging; presence (availability status); integration with Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT) Outlook; web-based collaboration and document and desktop sharing; and video-calling and fax-to-email capabilities.

XO is also playing into the mobile nature of business and the bring-your-own-device (BYOD) trend taking place in businesses by adding the WorkTime mobility application that offers a smartphone app and virtual PBX softphone client for the user's desktop to the HPBX service.
