XO extends its Latin American network reach
By adding a fourth international gateway the U.S.-Mexico border in McAllen, TX, XO is responding to the increased need for U.S. to Mexico interconnectivity--a market that the FCC reported was nearly $1 billion in 2009. XO currently operates Latin American gateways in Miami, San Diego and Los Angeles.
In tandem with the new international gateway, XO will expand its fiber network in Southern Texas by 800 miles to its network in Southern Texas, increasing the diversity of its long-haul routes to San Antonio and Houston through Laredo, McAllen, Harlingen, Corpus Christi and Victoria. With this additional network build, XO will expand customer access to its domestic and international Tier 1 IP backbone and 28,000 route-mile long-haul/metro network.
XO's latest network expansion into Mexico and Texas follows a previous drive to increase connectivity throughout the Inland region of Southern California.
