Zayo adds more fiber to its Las Vegas network

Zayo is taking out the backhoe again as it revealed plans on Tuesday to expand its network in Las Vegas, adding 155 new route miles to its existing fiber network.

This is not a "build it and they will come" deployment, however, as the new fiber is being deployed to support a large customer expansion.

In this expansion, Zayo will leverage its existing Las Vegas network, increasing its fiber footprint in both downtown Las Vegas and nearby areas, including the surrounding suburbs of Sloan, Henderson and North Las Vegas.

Zayo has expanded its fiber network in five other markets, including Denver, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Louisville, Ky., and Nashville, adding over 1,200 route miles its existing network. These expansion efforts are designed to meet a growing demand for wholesale Fiber to the Tower (FTTT) and enterprise bandwidth needs.

Its own organic fiber build outs have been complemented by targeted acquisitions, including large competitive provider AboveNet and regional provider Arialink.
