Zayo Bandwidth sets aggressive network spending target

Zayo Bandwidth may only be a regional fiber-based bandwidth provider, but it's worth noting that its $65 million capex commitment to expand its network in 2010 is bucking conservative capital spending trends of the larger service provider industry. Included in its initial spending targets for 2010 are: continued expansion in tier 3-5 markets, wireless backhaul, data centers and media hubs that can provide transport to major carrier hubs and Internet backbone connection points.

What's driving Zayo to invest capital in its network is the need for speed. Seeing continued demands from its customer base for more bandwidth, Zayo invested $45 million during fiscal year 2009 to expand its network and connected fiber to more than 400 buildings on its network.
