Zayo extends Ethernet reach through Telx's Ethernet exchange

Zayo is adding Telx's Ethernet exchange to its Ethernet expansion toolbox as a complement its own organic fiber network growth.

Joining the Ethernet exchange in Telx's downtown Atlanta data center, Zayo will be able to continue growing its 518-mile fiber network that already connects to over 250 buildings and more than 50 carrier POPs, LSOs and data center facilities throughout the city.

With a strong focus on being an enabler for other service providers and business customers, the agreement with Telx will enable Zayo to bring Ethernet services in front of more wholesale buyers and sellers with various levels of Quality of Service (QoS).

Ensuring QoS while delivering Ethernet reach through partners, a table stakes requirement to serve multisite customers, is a key challenge for every carrier, including Zayo.

David Howson, president of Zayo Bandwidth, said that since "transport and delivery can take several forms and vary in quality," the Telx "Ethernet Exchange environment removes much of this complexity and enables a scalable platform for Ethernet interconnection across carrier networks."
