Zayo gets into the professional services game with zTech fiber design-install suite
Zayo announced its new zTech services suite, which targets the professional services market segment by addressing the need for building, designing, and supporting private fiber networks.
Having purchased multiple fiber assets in recent years to create a 75,000-mile network across the U.S. and Western Europe, Zayo has plenty of experience in building and maintaining fiber networks.
Instead of having to dedicate a support staff of its own, zTech can accelerate service installation by using the same team and field resources that built and now maintain Zayo's broader fiber network. Although zTech is focused on offering its own services, customers can also use zTech as a standalone product for service provider networks they currently use.
Available across Zayo's international network, the product suite includes network design and engineering, procurement, fiber route construction and installation, remote hands field maintenance, network monitoring, equipment/rack installation, network operations center (NOC) monitoring, building access services and other technical support services.
Providing professional services to enterprise customers, particularly those that need higher bandwidth managed wavelength and dark fiber, is another way that Zayo can monetize the fiber network it has built through various acquisitions and its own efforts. Such a service would be applicable to a number of its higher end clients that have more complex needs, including those it acquired from AboveNet.
This service will also come in handy with the growing base of end-user installations Zayo has brought onto its network, a theme that was played out in its Q4 revenues for its fiscal year ended on June 30.
During that period, the service provider reported that revenues rose sequentially by 8 percent, or $46 million, to $258.2 million mainly through selling services to its carrier and enterprise customer base and network expansion.
