Zayo gets seat on GSA's Schedule 70 contract, enhances government reach

Zayo has been awarded a spot on the General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule 70 IT contract, enabling it to compete for federal, state and local government agency telecom service contracts.

By being added to the GSA's pre-approved list of information technology vendors, Zayo can work directly with government agencies on solutions to support their data communications and bandwidth infrastructure needs.

One of the benefits that government agencies gain from Schedule 70 is that it can simplify the procurement process and enable them to obtain IT products and services more quickly and easily. Besides having a simpler process to procure services, the contract will provide public sector agencies access to Zayo's services at a reduced cost.

"Zayo's extensive fiber-optic network can support the growing bandwidth demands of federal, state and local agencies, allowing them to focus on serving public needs," said Jim Nolte, senior vice president of sales at Zayo, in a release. "Through our Schedule 70 contract, we're able to provide these solutions more quickly, and at a lower cost, ultimately improving the bandwidth buying experience."

Gaining a set on the Schedule 70 contract is significant for Zayo, particularly as it looks to attract more customers to its growing fiber network. In recent years, the service provider has been scaling both its on-net fiber building footprint in key government regions like Washington, D.C., and enhancing its colocation capabilities by acquiring Colo Facilities Atlanta (AtlantaNAP).

Having these fiber and colocation assets in hand will make Zayo an attractive alternative source for service, particularly for multi-site government agencies that require higher speed fiber-based connections.
