Zeugma Systems tackles next-gen subscriber management

Start-up vendor Zeugma Systems, which borrows its corporate roots and some of its basic ideas about subscriber management from Redback Networks, is formally launching its Zeugma Services Node this week. What the company calls a service delivery router can track traffic on a per-subscriber and per-service basis. In some ways, the services node is a broadband remote access server (somewhat like Redback's), but one designed for an era of unpredicatble online video growth and other service trends that could have an impact on overall network quality. The platform provides carriers with a high degree of blade flexibility. The company already has trials with four carriers, including BT.
