8x8, Aryaka enter cloud unified communications, SD-WAN pact

8x8 and SD-WAN provider Aryaka have struck a strategic alliance to improve the voice and video communications experience for global mid-market and enterprise companies delivered through the service provider’s cloud.

The two companies said that their alliance will enable these companies to enhance business communications, collaboration and customer engagement for their employees, customers and partners around the world.

By leveraging Aryaka’s global SD-WAN solution, 8x8 says it can provide enterprise-grade private connectivity to further enhance voice and video quality delivered by the via its cloud platform.

Mehdi Salour, senior VP of network operations and DevOps for 8x8, told FierceTelecom a key focus of working with Aryaka is to further ensure QoS for its UCaaS service suite.

“We have been putting a ton of focus on quality of service,” Salour said. “We have owned the technology where a company would develop the entire stack of UCaaS and one of the major focus areas has been on quality of service.”

Additionally, 8x8 is ensuring uptime and quality for its services regardless of the location at which they are being delivered. The service provider has developed its global reach, which allows customers in different regions to get connected to the closest data center.

“We use 15 data centers around the world and what I call the science of network engineering,” Salour said. “We use the data that is coming from every single end-point with all of the connectivity information and manipulate the routes over the internet to deliver the best quality of service.”

8x8 had its services tested against several major unified communications as a service (UCaaS) providers by the Tolly Group, which found the service provider could deliver the highest voice quality across multiple client platforms and network impairment conditions.

When 8x8 and Aryaka are deployed together, enterprise voice and video traffic is routed through Aryaka’s global private network instead of over the public internet, thereby minimizing latencies, packet loss and jitter. As a result, organizations will benefit from increased employee productivity by reducing service interruptions and dropped calls.

Aryaka brings not only its SD-WAN knowledge but also its global network of 88 PoPs. The company said that 95% of its global business customers are only 30 milliseconds away from its PoPs.

“We can provide even better connectivity for remote locations regardless of the changing network conditions,” said Gary Sevounts, Aryaka’s CMO. “This differentiates both 8X8 and Aryaka because no other cloud communications provider has done that and no other SD-WAN vendor has the same network we have to do that.”

Already, customers are seeing the benefits of this partnership. Platform Specialty Products (PSP), a global, diversified producer of high technology specialty chemical products, has deployed 8x8-over-Aryaka to improve its UCaaS operations and provide high-quality communications and collaboration to its employees.
