Birch enhances operations with new VPs of sales and telesales

Birch Communications has made another move to sharpen its sales operations by promoting company veterans Brad Smith to vice president of Dealer Sales and Mike Otting to vice president of Telesales.

In his new role, Otting will oversee managing all sales within the Birch Inbound, Prepaid and Outbound Marketing Channels. A rising star at Birch, he began as a call center sales representative and has risen through the company ranks over the past 12 years.

As vice president of Dealer Sales, Smith will manage the national and regional sales managers for the Birch Dealer Sales Channels. Like Otting, Smith has worked for Birch for 10 years. He joined Birch via Access Integrated Networks, one of its predecessor companies.

These latest appointments are part of a broader realignment Birch has made to address new company growth opportunities that have emerged as the company has expanded its service and network footprint both organically and through targeted acquisitions.

In addition to establishing a wholesale division, the service provider has created an enterprise channel to target larger businesses. It also announced in November that it would hire 50 new employees in Q4 2013 to accommodate growth in its retail and wholesale divisions.
