IHS: Pay-TV providers added 202,670 customers in Q1

U.S. multichannel video programming distributors (MVPDs) saw one of their strongest periods in the first quarter of 2014, adding a total of 202,670 customers. According to a new IHS Technology report, cable operators narrowed their video losses to 132,330 customers. Comcast (NASDAQ: CMCSA) had a strong first-quarter gain by adding 24,000 video customers. In the telco video market, Verizon (NYSE: VZ) added only 57,000 new customers, while AT&T (NYSE: T) added 201,000 video subscribers during the quarter. Read more
