Masergy brings managed cloud router service to business customers

Masergy has taken another step forward with its own software-defined networking (SDN) vision by making its Cloud Router generally available for its business customers.

Complementing Masergy's existing on-premise Managed Router solutions, the Cloud Router is a full-featured managed router that resides in the cloud.

Two of the benefits of the Cloud Router for business customers are service turn up and reduction of capital costs. The Cloud Router can be immediately deployed to meet a customer's business requirements and application performance needs. At the same time, the service can reduce the capital expenses of proprietary routing hardware and the administrative costs associated with managing physical routers in corporate and branch offices.

Business customers that purchase the Cloud Router service can choose from either a standard or advanced service with a Business Continuity/Disaster Recovery option available for the advanced service. Each of these services supports bandwidth speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

A customer can also deploy a hybrid configuration where the Cloud Router and on-premise Managed Router solutions are used to optimize cost and performance by location and application environment.

Developing cloud-based services has been an ongoing priority for Masergy.

In recent years, the service provider has been growing this segment of its business through organic activity like the development of Cloud Router and purchasing other companies like DataGuard, a company that enhanced its managed security solution set. What's more, the service provider has established alliances with key partners like Amazon Web Services (AWS).
