MetTel taps Bell, Dickson to drive digital transformation, UC marketing, sales

MetTel is beefing up its growing management team, announcing that it has named Peter Bell as SVP of sales for the Digital Transformation (DX) unit at the company and David Dickson as the executive director of its unified communications (UC) solutions.

These new management team members will work throughout the service provider’s solutions portfolio designed to meet the communications needs of enterprises across all vertical segments.

Bell and Dickson come to MetTel with over two decades of telecom and IT industry experience.

Bell has over 20 years of global sales management expertise working with enterprise companies in North America, Europe and Asia. He has experience building, recruiting, managing and growing sales operations. As well as a long track record of integrating business and technology strategies to help MetTel continue driving its growth. As the SVP of sales, Bell will be responsible for business development and growth in DX for the enterprise channel.

During his previous position at INAP, Bell served as the SVP of Global Sales with a focus on migrating IT workloads to an outsourced solution such as colocation, public cloud or private cloud. Earlier, he was VP and GM of Global Solutions Sales at NTT America where he was responsible for growing their North American presence.

Dickson also brings 20 years of experience helping clients understand the best-of-breed technologies available to meet ever-changing communications needs. He will focus on UC to help enterprises understand and embrace the rise of the mobile workforce. David's historical knowledge and expertise will help inform the strategy behind MetTel's customers' implementation of customized communications solutions.

Dickson comes from Windstream, where he served as VP of national channel sales following the service provider’s acquisition of Broadview. At his time at Windstream and Broadview, Dickson took the company's hosted VoIP product to their salesforce, which eventually became adopted by 250,000 users nationwide.

The two executives appointments come to MetTel at a key time for enterprise customers.

Market research groups have forecast strong growth in the DX and UC segments. IDC said that worldwide spending on DX technologies (hardware, software and services) will reach nearly $1.3 trillion this year. One key element of the DX trend involves UC, which is predicted to grow globally to reach $143 billion by 2024, according to Grandview Research.

MetTel has also been able to continue to enhance its management team. Besides Bell and Dickson, the service provider previously brought in former MCI and Qwest public sector leader Diana Gowen to head up its federal government practice.
