Now that Jim Butman is set to take on his new role as the CEO of TDS Telecom, the company revealed its new top management team.
Butman, a 32-year company veteran, was named as TDS Telecom’s CEO in May. He is taking over the CEO spot from David Wittwer, who is retiring at the end of the month.
He will officially take over the CEO role in January.

As COO, Butman has overall leadership responsibility and accountability for consumer and commercial sales, marketing, customer contact operations, network operations and business development.
Butman’s new management team includes:
- Vicki Villacrez, CFO and SVP of finance
- Ken Paker, CTO and SVP of information and network technologies
- Drew Petersen, SVP of corporate affairs
- Shane West, SVP of marketing, sales and customer operations
- Mark Barber, SVP of network operations
- Kathy Cefalu, VP and chief human resources officer
"These talented individuals understand our business exceptionally well and will be critical to our ongoing growth and success in the wireline, cable, and broadband industry," Butman said in a release.
A number of these executives have over 20 years of experience and tenure working at TDS Telecom and associated affiliates.
Ken Paker and Vicki Villacrez have worked at TDS Telecom for over 20 and 30 years, respectively.
Paker joined TDS Telecom in 1996 following a 16-year career at Bell Labs that began at the tail end of the Bell System days. In his new role, Paker is responsible for guiding the network services and information technology departments. He will also preside over the architectural direction of the company’s network and oversee delivery of software and infrastructure projects.
Vicki Villacrez has been with the TDS family of companies nearly 30 years. She oversees accounting, internal controls, billing, revenue assurance, procurement and financial analysis. In addition, Villacrez leads the company’s strategic and long-range planning.
No less significant is Mark Barber, who joined TDS Telecom 2013 and helped the company acquire its first major cable company and has facilitated all subsequent cable acquisitions. He will continue to be involved with cable operations as well as begin overseeing the field services and repair teams.
