TIM Brasil has introduced a new fiber-based broadband service called TIM Empresas (Live TIM Enterprises) that will focus on small enterprise customers.
News of the service should not be all that surprising because it had revealed its plans seven months ago.
The service will be available in São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro and Duque de Caxias, which are the same cities where TIM already offers its residential fiber to the home (FTTH) product TIM Fiber. Eligible small to medium enterprise (SME) customers will be able to get a service plan for $86 a month with 50 MB of downloading and 30 MB of uploading capabilities.
Its move to target small enterprise customers with fiber-based broadband follows the launch of a business version of its TIM Fiber service in July.
Rogério Takayanagi, president of TIM Fiber, said in July they were conducting a "soft launch" with a number of specific business customers, reports BN Americas.
When TIM debuted its business grade fiber service, it provided customers dedicated IP links to businesses and Service Level Agreements (SLAs) to enable higher and more consistent transmission speeds. Rebranded as "Live TIM Dedicado," this service will now focus on medium-sized businesses.
TIM Brasil has set an ambitious goal to build out 50,000 km of fiber in the country within the next two years. According to Brazil's telecom regulator Anatel, TIM says it has a 52.8 percent share of the "ultrabroadband" market (up to 34 Mbps) in São Paulo and 41.7 percent in Rio de Janeiro and Duque de Caxias.
All of its fiber buildout progress will be threatened by both GVT and Vivo as they introduce speeds up to 150 and 200 Mbps, respectively.
