GL Communications offers new Ethernet/IP tester

The PacketExpert 10G is GL Communications' newest Ethernet and IP tester, which GL said is compatible with comprehensive 10G and 1G Ethernet and IP network testing.

The device features Wirespeed Record and Wirespeed Playback, two new functions that can capture traffic from ports and play back canned traffic files, respectively. It also boasts "two 10 Gbps Optical ports and two 10/100/1000 Mbps Electrical/Optical ports and capable of Bit Error Rate Testing (BERT), Smart Loopback, RFC 2544 Testing," according to a company press release.

GL said it has an IP link and impairment simulator (IPLinkSim) that can emulate "all network impairment conditions of real world networks" including latency, bandwidth, packet loss and congestion issues. Release
