Juniper Networks
From a product perspective, Juniper saw mixed results across its routing, switching, and security portfolios. Routing product revenue remained flat year-over-year and down 22 percent at $504 million as cloud and cable provider growth was offset by a decline in telecom.

Shenandoah Telecom
Shentel's wireline network success in the first quarter, which contributed to the provider's net income rise of 35 percent year over year to $13.9 million, was driven by fiber sales to schools via the FCC's E-Rate program and to wireless operators in its region.

EarthLink's total revenue was $254.3 million during the first quarter of 2016, down 10 percent from the prior year quarter and 2.3 percent from the fourth quarter of 2015. In February, the company sold certain assets related to its IT services product offerings.

Frontier Communications
Frontier reported total first quarter revenue of $1.35 billion, down $58 million or 4 percent from the fourth quarter of 2015. The telco attributed the drop to an anticipated sequential decline of $40 million related to regulatory revenue, as well as a decline in voice services revenue.

CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL)
Overall business segment revenues were $2.6 billion, down 3.4 percent from the first quarter of 2015, primarily due to declines in legacy services, low-bandwidth data services and data integration revenues, which were partially offset by growth in high-bandwidth data services revenues.

FairPoint Communications
During the first quarter, FairPoint saw broadband grow slightly with the addition of 193 new subscribers to end the period with a total of 311,323 subscribers. However, overall broadband subscribers were down year-over-year from 316,640 in the same period a year ago.

Cincinnati Bell
Total consolidated revenue for Cincinnati Bell was $289 million, down $4 million from the prior year due to the cyclical nature of Telecom and IT hardware sales. Meanwhile, operating income for the quarter totaled $30 million and Adjusted EBITDA equaled $77 million.

Consolidated Communications
Total company revenues were $188.8 million, compared to $192.6 million for the same period last year. Consolidated noted that strong growth in strategic sales channels offset declines in voice services, subsidies and network access revenues.

Hawaiian Telcom's first quarter revenue rose 1.7 percent year-over-year to $98.8 million as growth in business data services and consumer video more than offset the impact of voice access line declines.

Lumos Networks
Driven by gains in fiber-to-the-cell (FTTC) and enterprise services, data revenue growth continued into the first quarter, rising 7 percent year-over year to $29.6 million. Total first quarter fiber-to-the-cell and enterprise revenue was $20.5 million, up 19 percent year-over-year.

Consumer and small business ILEC service revenues were $397 million, a decrease of 1 percent from the same period a year ago. Driven by growth in high-speed Internet bundle revenue, consumer service revenues were $312 million, an increase of approximately $1 million from the fourth quarter.

TDS Telecom's parent company Telephone and Data Systems reported total operating revenues of $1.24 billion for the first quarter of 2016, down year-over-year from $1.25 billion in the first quarter of 2015. Meanwhile, total TDS Telecom operating revenues were $281 million, up slightly year-over-year from $281 million in the first quarter of 2015.

Net profit for Ciena slipped to $14 million or 10 cents per diluted share, from $20.7 million or 17 cents per diluted share. From an overall financial point of view, Ciena reported second fiscal quarter revenues of $640.7 million, up year-over-year from $621.6 million in the same quarter a year ago.
