Zyxel’s Remote Management Capabilities Make WiFi 6 Operations Straightforward and Convenient

WiFi 6 may be the “next gig thing” in broadband wireless communications, but its existence alone doesn’t guarantee prosperity for Auto-Configuration Server (ACS) service providers (SPs) seeking to provision and maintain WiFi 6 networks economically. This is because not all WiFi 6 remote management solutions are created equal. Only the best ones provide SPs with a range of technological choices for remotely managing their WiFi 6 infrastructures.

As a broadband gateway pioneer for more than 30 years, Zyxel has the know-how to satisfy this criterion. Its WiFi 6 remote management solutions allow SPs to choose between Zyxel's MPro MESH Intelligent WiFi with TR-069/TR-181 remote management protocols or Plume's two integrated platforms – namely HomePass Smart Home Suite or Haystack Data Prediction and Analytics Suite. This ability to choose empowers SPs to tailor the curation and delivery of a new Smart Home Service at a scale to each subscriber.

Providing happiness at a distance

Designed to meet the needs of ACS SPs in compliance with EasyMesh standards, Zyxel’s WiFi 6 powered MPro Mesh Solutions integrate hardware, software and an intuitive mobile app to provide customers with superior WiFi service on all their devices, anywhere and at any time.

At the same time, Zyxel understands SPs have budgets to live within, and lots of tasks on their schedules. Zyxel's comprehensive MPro Mesh Solutions enable service providers to address the unique requirements of each customer remotely from SPs’ support centers. This includes creating and modifying user configurations, upgrading their software, running diagnostics and managing their equipment from a distance. The result is happy subscribers who stick with their SPs, and SP staff who can provide this satisfaction from the comfort of their support centers, greatly reducing service expenses as they enhance customer satisfaction.

Access Point WiFi 6 gateways that deliver

To make good on the promises outlined above while wowing subscribers with true WiFi 6 performance, Zyxel is offering three remotely managed WiFi 6 products to ACS SPs. These are the EX3510, the EX5510 and the WX3310. Each of them can satisfy a wide range of users, while allowing SP support centers to configure, manage, troubleshoot and upgrade them at a distance.

The Zyxel EX3510-B0 (EX3510) Gateway supports the WiFi 6 standard by providing subscribers with incredibly fast data throughputs of up to 5700 Mbps. This capacity allows SPs to offer UHD 4K/8K video services to its customers, along with hybrid high-throughput applications in Smart Homes for an authentic Internet of Things (IoT) experience.

The EX3510 comes with a field-proven feature set including TR-069. This protocol allows SPs to manage, configure, monitor and diagnose subscriber devices remotely without interfering with end users. TR-069 reduces deployment complexity, saving SPs operating and maintenance costs. The EX3510 also employs the optimized TR-143 protocol to support FCC-mandated CAF II performance testing and is compliant with the OPAL firmware trunk found in all Zyxel CPEs.

The Zyxel EX5510-B0 (EX5510) Gateway comes with the capabilities provided by the EX3510, then goes one step further with data throughputs up to 6000 Mbps. As well, the EX5510 comes with one 2.5 Giga Ethernet WAN and four Gigabit LAN ports for multiple user connections. On wireless, the EX5510 delivers speeds of up to 4.8 Gbps on the 5 GHz band and 1.1 Gbps on 2.4 GHz

Collectively, the EX3510 and EX5510 provide service providers with two high-performing WiFi 6 gateway options to lease/sell to subscribers, for both basic and premium tiers.

To serve those subscribers who need help in attaining whole home coverage, SPs can offer them the Zyxel WX3310 Dual-Band Wireless AX Gigabit Access Point/Extender. This access point extender delivers up to 5400 Mbps dual-band concurrent wireless access throughout the entire house by using technologies such as Uplink MU-MIMO and OFDMA, combined with a high-power amplifier and beamforming capabilities, to ensure multi-device WiFi 6 service without dead zones.

Two big benefits

Whichever of these Zyxel gateways that SPs deploy, they can do so with the option to choose between Zyxel's MPro Mesh intelligent WiFi with TR-069 remote management platform – which can interoperate with CPE made by any vendor – or Plume's Open Sync-enabled platform. SPs are free to switch from one platform to another as needed, such as moving to Plume to support higher-end WiFi 6 or premium Wi-Fi.

Once SPs have finished configuring their Zyxel gateways for clients to use, these subscribers can manage their needs painlessly using the MPro MeshTM mobile app. Available as a free download on Apple’s App Store (iOS) or Google Play (Android), the MPro Mesh app gives end users full visibility into, and full control of, their home WiFi networks. Should SPs choose, they can disable this access on their Zyxel gateways.

The bottom line

Zyxel's WiFi 6 gateway system supports dual-operational capability giving SPs unprecedented versatility in remote management and delivery of enhanced WiFi services. This gives ACS SPs maximal flexibility and control in deploying, monitoring and maintaining a range of WiFi 6 services in subscriber homes, from the safety and convenience of SP support centers.
