Facility-based CLECs are on pace to rack up nearly $28 billion in revenue in 2009, according to a research report at xchange. The report takes a look at the overall state of the CLEC market, which has about 170 players currently vying for a piece of that gigantic pie.
Different CLECs take different approaches to the market, and the report looks at how remaining locally or regionally focused compares with building a national footprint, as well as how the type of customers CLECs target affects their strategies for growth. While locally focused CLECs are more prevalent, the regional and national players use their network reach to bring in drastically higher revenues. Building the network to do so, however, remains a chief financial concern for these CLECs.
