Birch names Gibson to lead wholesale business

Birch Communications has tapped David Gibson to lead its product development teams and its emerging wholesale service business as its new vice president of business development.

Based in the company's Atlanta Operations Center, Gibson brings more than 20 years of experience in voice, data, network and cloud services to Birch.

Posed as an alternative to incumbent providers, Birch Wholesale offers other carriers a series of voice, POTS, T1, Ethernet over copper, ADSL2+ and fiber-based services.

Wholesale has been a growing area for Birch. Since launching the division in 2012, the service provider has continually attracted a number of competitive provider customers, including Bullseye Telecom, Belgacom, Staratos, Telaris, 382 Communications and Primus Telecommunications.

Joining Gibson will be Todd Ward, who will serve as Birch's director of wholesale.

At the same time, the service provider has been refreshing its retail branding under the "Communications. Connectivity. Commitment" tagline. This branding refresh is part of its effort to organize all of its expanded product and network assets it gained by completing its acquisition of Cbeyond.

Gibson has also tapped Brock Taylor to be director of product development, helping to lead a team focused on expanding the Birch product offering.

A big focus of the product development efforts will be centered on enhancing Birch's suite of TotalCloud PBX, TotalCloud Data Center and TotalCloud File Storage solutions it delivers to business customers.

"Combined with our continued expansion of network facilities, we are able to provide a complete solution from traditional copper solutions to advanced cloud solutions, including our TotalCloud PBX, TotalCloud Data Center, and TotalCloud File Storage solutions," Gibson said.
