Birch revamps brand identity, unveils new product portfolio

Birch Communications, which has been rapidly expanding its portfolio through a series of tuck-in acquisitions, has established new company branding for a new set of product offerings targeting its business customer base.

The service provider is coupling the refreshed company branding with a new tagline--Communications. Connectivity. Commitment.--which it says better reflects the company's new positioning, diverse portfolio of integrated technology solutions and enhanced service capabilities, as well as its focus on customer service.

This new branding is likely a move by Birch to formally organize all of the expanded product and network assets it gained by completing its acquisition of Cbeyond.

Under the new product portfolio structure, the service provider has developed four categories: BirchVoice (basic telephone services, hosted phone systems, PRI and SIP trunking); BirchNetwork (DSL, Ethernet, VPN and mobile services); BirchCloud (storage, managed hosting and data centers); and BirchIT Services (remote monitoring, helpdesk support and migration services).

All of these product sets are supported by the CLEC's nationwide IP-based network that comprises 600 Points of Presence (PoPs) in 22 states and Washington, D.C., Ethernet over Copper, MPLS and Fiber capabilities, 31,000 fiber route miles, 580 fiber-lit buildings and six data centers.

"With new technology infrastructure and enhanced services, we can deliver a comprehensive set of communications and managed service solutions that enable our customers to operate and grow their businesses more efficiently and effectively," said Vincent M. Oddo, president and CEO of Birch, in a release.

In recent years, the service provider has been expanding its service portfolio to serve a broader mix of customers, including small and medium-sized business (SMB) and multi-site enterprises with more than 250 employees. It also has been establishing its presence as a wholesale provider alternative to other CLECs, competitive long distance carriers and communications and IT services resellers.
