State-owned Indian service provider BSNL needs a turnaround man, and they think that man could be Arun Sarin, the former CEO of Vodafone. BSNL is considering Sarin for the top post that will be vacated when current Chairman & Managing Director Kuldeep Goyal retires in July.
Citing government sources, BSNL is putting together a list of potential candidates that will then be reviewed by a selection committee.
As part of the selection process, the Indian government is considering taking BSNL's executive selection process out of the purview of the Public Enterprises Selection board so it can offer a market-driven salary structure. However, such a move would require cabinet approval and then a committee would be appointed to conduct the selection process.
