BT Business tries to lure new customers with six-month free broadband promotion

BT Business (NYSE: BT) has introduced an online promotion to attract new customers by offering six months of broadband for free.

Eligible customers have to agree to a couple of conditions, including signing a 24-month contract (with or without a phone line). In addition, it's only available on new business and new BT Infinity for business (option 1 or 2) connections.

The discount will be applied as a credit to the customer's first or second bill.

However, the new offer can't be used in conjunction with any other offer and BT said it "reserves the right to withdraw this offer at any time without notice."

Customers that have existing BT Business broadband products are not eligible for the free offer.

This new promotional offer comes as BT has been expanding the reach of its fiber-based broadband service, announcing in May that its last mile fiber network now passes over 19 million homes and businesses.

While the new promotion will be an attractive way to lure new subscribers in the near-term, BT's challenge will be in maintaining the customer experience and reasonable pricing so customers don't churn to another competitor like Talk Talk or BskyB.
