BT INS server virtualization study

Virtualization software has been in the news following a healthy IPO on Monday by VMware, one of the companies that enable server capabilities to be virtually replicated on a single server, making management and processing of tasks easier, while reducing data center costs related to physical servers.

VMware's IPO was quickly followed by the announcement that Citrix Systems is acquiring a VMware competitor. And, adding even more hype to the mix, a new study by BT's INS enterprise consulting arm finds that server virtualization has jumped in the last few years. It's officially an enterprise segment that telcos need to watch closely.
