Facing increasing network traffic driven by booming advanced video and 3G mobile usage, U.K. telco BT is moving more aggressively into Ethernet Services with the deployment of Ethernet in the First Mile technology, Light Reading Europe reports. A BT executive admitted that BT was slow to adopt Ethernet early on, but has picked up the pace, and is planning to provide Ethernet-based bonding to support another flavor and speed of broadband service to fill the gap between DSL and fiber-to-the-premise.
Still, in the world of business services, corporate customers may be moving to Ethernet services from TDM services at a slower pace than the company expected. TDM, apparently, clings to life.
