C Spire says Clinton and Madison, Miss. qualify for 1 Gbps FTTH service

C Spire said that the towns of Clinton and Madison, Miss., have met the subscriber threshold to get the company's 1 Gbps FTTH service.

During a meeting at Clinton's Countrywood-Olde Vineyard on Tuesday, C Spire announced that the "fiberhood" reached its pre-registration target on Tuesday, the first city in which eight neighborhoods have qualified.

The Countrywood-Olde Vineyard area joins the Southern Oaks, Hunter's Ridge-Indian Trails, Cascades, Bruenburg North, Bruenburg South, Lakeridge and Linda Drive-Copper Creek-Pinehaven Road (Eastside) fiberhoods, which qualified for the 1 Gbps service earlier this year.

C Spire said it expects to complete engineering and start construction on the newest Clinton fiberhood by the end of the year with commercial service available in March 2016. In June, C Spire activated 1 Gbps service in the Southern Oaks and Hunter's Ridge-Indian Trails fiberhoods and it expects to roll out service in the remaining five fiberhoods by the end of the year.

Joining Clinton is Madison, Miss., a city where pre-registration exceeded the required threshold, helping the city qualify its third area for C Spire's 1 Gbps service.

Joining the Reunion and Charlestowne-Brisage-Madison Oaks fiberhoods, which qualified in April and June for the 1 Gbps service, Madison's Fontanelle-Ashton Park-Locust Hill fiberhood reached its pre-registration target earlier this month.

Similar to other cities where it has launched, including most recently Jackson, C Spire's 1 Gbps Internet access is available to existing customers for $70 a month, $90 a month for combined Internet and home phone, $130 for Internet and super HD TV, and $150 a month for the three-service package. New C Spire customers will be required to pay an additional $10 a month on all packages.
