Why you should care: Network caching is an idea at least as old as Akamai Technologies, among the first companies to really exploit it as part of an enhanced content delivery network architecture for network operators. Now, vendors like PeerApp and Velocix are promoting it as at least one ingredient in new recipes for how broadband service providers should work with the online content community to provide better Internet service quality.
