CenturyLink sees OTT video as path to reduce video truck roll expenses, expand footprint

CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL) may be expanding its IPTV footprint throughout its territory, but it sees over-the-top video as a way to reduce ongoing deployment costs while reaching more of its customer base with video services.

The service provider recently told investors that it will begin an OTT video trial early next year in two of its existing Prism IPTV markets, delivering a mix of existing content to customers.
