CenturyLink to resell Blue Ridge's cybersecurity solutions to government customers

CenturyLink (NYSE: CTL) can now give its federal, state and local government customers another weapon to fight cyber attacks via a new agreement to sell Blue Ridge Networks' solutions.

Under the terms of the agreement, CenturyLink will sell Blue Ridge services to government customers via various contract vehicles such as GSA Networx.

The agreement also complies with the U.S. government's cloud first drive in that the solutions are also going to be integrated with Savvis, CenturyLink's data center and cloud provider subsidiary.

"Through our relationship with Blue Ridge, CenturyLink can now offer government agencies our comprehensive portfolio of secure data, cloud, network and integrated managed solutions coupled with more all-encompassing protection against cyberattacks," said Diana Gowen, CenturyLink Public Sector senior vice president and general manager, in a release.

This agreement has benefits for both CenturyLink and its government customers.

For CenturyLink's government division, the agreement with Blue Ridge and the integration with Savvis means that it can quickly scale its security portfolio without having to invest in a new product. Since the new services will be hosted in the cloud, government customers that already work with the telco won't have to manage another software license or deploy new on-premise equipment.
